Affordability
We deserve an economy that values workers. For too long, corporations have put shareholder value before the livelihoods of workers and their communities. The system is rigged, and I’m running to fix it. Working people deserve to afford groceries, housing, and essential living expenses.
At the Department of Labor, I protected the retirement security and the retirement incomes of about 31 million American workers, retirees, and their families. I also enforced worker safety regulations and employment rights for women, older workers, and vulnerable populations.

Healthcare
As a cancer survivor, healthcare is personal to me. Healthcare allows each of us to live our best lives. Each individual, community, and state should have the care they deserve to prevent diseases and respond to public health emergencies.
Arizonans, Republicans and Democrats, for decades have supported this premise through the expansion of Medicaid. More than two million Arizonans receive healthcare through Arizona’s Medicaid.

Public Education
Public education is the foundation of American democracy. Education not only creates dreams. It makes them possible. I am outraged by the decades-long assault on public education in Arizona, and I am committed to putting an end to it.
Before I moved to Arizona, I spearheaded the Read California campaign to promote reading among youth.

Democracy
America was founded on the self-evident truth that all people are created equal. These values are aspirational. We can only achieve them if we promote, protect, and defend civil rights for every citizen and resident in the nation. To enshrine equal justice under the law, everyone must have the opportunity to participate in our democracy.
Dangerously, in a cynical attempt to strip power from the people, current MAGA-Republicans have undermined trust in free and fair elections.

Immigration
We need a fair immigration system that enforces the law with clarity, consistency, and transparency at all levels of government. We must secure our border and respect the humanity and civil liberties of immigrants.
When I have had the opportunity to help new citizens register to vote I am always humbled by those who choose American citizenship with pride and stake their future and the future of their family with the generations of immigrants that preceded them.
